An Interview With the Cast

You know and love them in character, but you really don't know these guys?

We got the goods from Kevin, Noah, Evan, Alex, and Michael about the effects on the new found fame and what it's like to portray a boy band, 2gether all on their own.

Kevin Farley:

Q; How do you like working on the 2Gether show? Do you enjoy your role as Doug Linus?

A: I love working on this show immensely. The set is incredibly cool, and the guys are a lot of fun. I enjoy playing Doug Linus. He's a lot like me.

Q: What has been the funniest moment during shooting the 2Gether series?

A: Well, I guess that would have to be when I was dancing and I fell on this really cute extra.

Q: You've done a lot of singing and learned a lot of new dance moves doing 2Gether, has this positively impacted your life in any way (i.e. impressing the ladies on the dance floor with your moves)?

A: Yes. Yes, it has impacted my life. Mostly when an outlaw comes into a bar and drawls out "dance stranger!" and starts shooting at my feet, at that moment, I can dance really well -- that's saved my life a few times.

Q: You played Harold Olsen in The Straight Story... what was it like working on the film and working with David Lynch?

A: Absolutely amazing! David Lynch is the best director I've ever seen at work. It was a privilege to work with him.

NOAH BASTIAN:

Q; Did you ever think you would be parodying a formulated boy band in a movie and actually putting out CDs? How does it feel to suddenly be a recording artist?

A: No I didn't. Strangely enough it feels weird to be a recording artist. I never pursued it as a goal in the past and kinda got thrown into it. So far, though, it has been cool and a lot of fun.

Q: What's your take on the character Chad Linus that you play? Do you relate to him?

A: I think there's a lot of Chad in Noah and Noah in Chad. I do relate to the character. I hope I'm smarter than him, though... and Chad sometimes finds it hard to talk to people and I notice that about myself too cute extra.

Q: What has been your darkest moment on the 2gether set?

A: Darkest moment? It's all been fun. Well there was this one time when we ran out of Jones Green Apple Soda... It was very painful for me.

Q: How did you like working on the 2gether movie with the director, Nigel Dick?

A: Nigel was amazing to work with. So far, he's the best director I've ever worked with. He made filming 2Gether a truly amazing experience.

EVAN FARMER:

Q; How does it feel to play the hunk in the band?

A: I just play Jerry, the hunk part is incidental as far as I'm concerned.

Q: What do you think you would be doing right now if you weren't working in 2Gether?

A: I would be coaching female mud wrestling. Just kidding! I'd be doing something that would have me outdoors and active.

Q: What has been the best part of working on 2gether?

A: Meeting tons of people all the time. Also knowing that I don't have to get up in the morning and go to an office job.

Q: You had a voice-over part on a Daria episode? What was your role? Tell us about working on Daria.

A: Actually I had several roles. The two I enjoyed most were Eric -- Daria's mom's boss -- and Robert -- one of the football players. Working on Daria was lots of fun.

ALEX SOLOWITZ:

Q; What's been your favorite groupie experience so far? (not a sexual experience please...?

A: When people call out and say my name, when they say "Alex" ... I'm being recognized as an actor.

Q: Mikey's character is very aggressive... Do you ever get carried away playing him and let it invade your personal life?

A: Sometimes it does. I am not as aggressive as Mickey. I know that by the end of filming the 2Gether movie I felt like I had become Mickey. I'm just getting back into the character again so we'll see.

Q: How do you feel about boy bands? Do you feel differently about them from how you did before doing 2Gether?

A: Yes, I feel differently about boy bands than before doing 2Gether. I give them a lot more respect and props. They work really hard at what they do.

Q: How would you describe the 2Gether series? How is it different from the movie?

A: The series provides a more in-depth look at the characters. It's also a lot edgier. We're pushing the envelope. The series will be supremely phat.

MICHAEL CUCCIONE:

Q; You play QT, the cute one in 2Gether? How do you feel about that, are you getting a cute complex?

A: Actually I always consider myself the young one. When I'm asked what member I am I don't say I'm the cute one; I say I'm the dewy eyed youngster.

Q: How do you like working as an ensemble cast? Are you close to the other 2Getherguys?

A: Yeah, I think we're all pretty close. Obviously we have our disagreements. That happens when you spend so much time together.

Q: As QT, you play a not totally healthy young man. In real life you are a survivor of Hodgkin's Disease. Is this just a coincidence? How does it feel to play a part that hits so close to home?

A: It's a coincidence. Although the character Q.T. and I have different illnesses I obviously use my personal experience to help me play Q.T. I can relate, so it helps.

Q: You are only 15 years old... How do you manage working full-time on a television series and keeping up with your studies?

A: It's difficult but I manage. I've got a rally supportive family. School is very important to me and always will be.

Show Summary 10-3-00

At the beginning of the show 2gether sang "Right Where It Counts". There were some gays guys in the audience, and one of their signs said "mickey up in this" Also, one of the guys was acting like they were giving Mickey a blow job. One guy told mickey to turn around so he could see
his butt.

Later on in the show, the boys had to get a chest wax. The woman who waxed Mickey he had a crush on. The problem was that the girl thought Mickey was gay because she said there were rumors on the internet about Mickey being gay. Jerry told the girl that mickey was gay. Mickey went online and looked up "mickey parke gay". He found 16,407 matches. He went to
one of them and it showed him dancing with guys!

Later on in the show, Jerry and Mickey made up. The other thing that happened was that some
guy told Chad that 2gether would breakup in 6 months, so chad got a
backup job as a copier.Q.T said that Chad should do what he likes and that's singing and dancing!!

CALLING ALL MICHAEL CUCCIONE FANS!!!!

On getting the role of QT McKnight in "2Gether": "Well, at first I went to what we call a cattle call, and it was a bunch of people who felt they had no chance who came together and took a shot at getting this part.
It took like six weeks and I didn't hear anything and I thought it was dead in the water, but I ended up getting another call, which was a dream come true, so I went back and got the job! I knew they were auditioning in LA and NY, so I never thought a boy from Vancouver would get the job."

Are you as girl crazy as QT?

"Hey I'm 15! (Michael was the youngest cast member.) Of course there's a bit of girl craziness there. My likeness to that character is that we enjoy the same things but we're different in other ways...Like QT's mom in the film was kind of a stage mom and my mom is nothing like that and I love her for it. I think I'd go nuts if I had a stage-mom, but my mom's the best!"

On working with Nigel Dick (the king of music videos) who directed "2Gether":

"He's a saint. I became so close to Nigel and gained so much respect for him. He's an amazing director and an amazing guy. Even at the end of [a hard] day he would take the time to congratulate you on your work and your performance, and that means a lot to the actors. He's a great guy."

Funniest part of making the movie:

Well I had to make out with my hand with my mother right there watching! It was an awkward moment, kinda weird with her there. Also I knew it was a scene that everyone was waiting for, waiting to see what I would do, so it was kinda nerve racking!"

How "the cute one" got started in "the biz":

"I started off as a model doing runway work when I was like five years old... bridal shows, stuff like that. It was really funny, I used to wear little tuxedos! Then I got with a commercial agency and the rest is history!

I've always loved singing and performing, even at school in talent shows and productions. It's always been a passion of mine and I just got with this agent and did a few little things and worked my way up the ladder, and finally got my big break with "2Gether."

BSB and 'NSYNC vs. "2Gether"

"We're a lot tougher than those guys! [laughing] Actually, 'NSYNC was bagging on us on MTV -- They were saying how they were gonna show us how to act. Listen, we can't compare to them as far as dancing and all that stuff, but we'll teach them how to act. If it's the acting leave it to "2Gether" and when it comes to the music leave it to 'NSYNC or the Backstreet Boys.

Actually "2Gether" is different from those groups. We don't consider ourselves a boy band. I mean we love singing and we feel we can sing and we can dance and we can act but, we're more for the humor and having fun and hopefully people enjoy it."

As for the ladies...

"I am COMPLETELY single (laughs)! I have been really busy and I haven't been at school lately, so it's kinda hard to get into that."

OK, but what does he look for when he does have the time to date?

"Hmmm, hmmm, well, I'm kinda wide open as far as what I like. I think personality is really important, but obviously looks are gonna grab your attention. And I like dark haired girls, I have to say. I'm Italian ya know! I mean, I've liked blonde girls before so I guess I'm kind of open about it all. Also, I like humble people. I don't like people who are full of themselves, that's really irritating."

CALLING ALL NOAH FANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Noah Bastian
Full name: Noah Dale Bastian (a.k.a. Chad Linus, the Sea-Doo-loving, Star Wars-quoting "Shy One" of MTV's boy band spoof "2Gether")

Birthdate: August 26, 1979 (Virgo)

Hometown:Salt Lake City, Utah (born in San Jose, California and now lives in Los Angeles)

Status:(And we quote) "Totally single right now"

Last great movie he saw:"Girl, Interrupted"

Fave TV show:Will & Grace

Fave actor:Josh Hartnett (In fact, super sweet Noah gives props to his fellow actor by saying he thinks Josh is gonna be a huge star.)

Fave actress:Angelina Jolie

Fave band:Rage Against the Machine

Britney or Christina? "Definitely Britney! I met her before '2Gether' came out, and she's one of the nicest people I've ever met. No matter what she's doing, how busy she is, she just acts like she's happy to meet you." (Hmmm, are we picking up on a little somethin' somethin' here . . . )

Secret celeb crush: A tie between Britney Spears and Angelina Jolie. (That's what we thought!)

Backstreet Boys or 'N Sync?: "Recently, I've liked 'N Sync's music more, but I like the Backstreet Boys too."

Does he really own a Sea-Doo?: "No, but I think they owe me one after the movie!" Noah laughs. "I do actually love riding them, and after we finished the movie, I got the chance to ride them in Puerto Rico in the ocean and it was very cool."

Chad Linus' signature dance move is the Roger Rabbit, what's Noah's? : "I used to take ballroom dancing," he says. "But I guess my favorite is swing. I took that for nine years."

Typical night out:Going to a friend's house and watching a movie. (Noah says he isn't into the whole club scene. "Sometimes it's fun, but I don't like to be treated like scum by the bouncers. It's all about who you are and who you know, and you have to wait in line for hours. And I just donāt like that. It bugs me. I'd just rather sit around with my friends and hang out than go to a club and get treated like crap.")

HE'S HEAVENLY ALRIGHT
So how did cutie Noah get started in acting? We'll let him tell the story: "When I was five or six I got asked to do a play called 'The Littlest Angel'. I had really blonde hair and blue eyes and, I don't know, I don't wanna say, 'oh yeah, I looked like an angel' . . . " (Editor's note: O.K., we'll say it! He does!). "Anyway, I got bitten by the acting bug during the curtain call, with the attention I got, and I just thought 'hey, this is cool, I think I'm gonna do this'."

LIFE IMITATING ART

It all started as a playful spoof of the whole boy band craze, but MTV's "2Gether" has become one of the bands they'd originally set out to "gently nudge," as Noah says. "It first hit us one day when we appeared on 'TRL'. When we left the studio, all these girls had signs and posters, and we originally thought MTV had planted them, but they hadn't! It was real, and they just mobbed us! Everyone wanted to take a picture with us and it was cool. All of a sudden it was like we had turned into this real boy band."
LUKE SKYWALKER DIGS HIM
Noah's psyched about lots of things "2Gether's" success has brought him: great new friends (the band members, who were recently signed to do a series that will pick up where the movie left off, have become good buds in real life, too); the chance to work with "video king" Nigel Dick, who directed the movie and is responsible for videos from Britney, Vitamin C, Mandy Moore, BSB, Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias; and meeting Mark Hamill, the actor who played Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars movies. "I actually met Mark Hamill at a "2Gether" party and he came up to me and said 'I really dug all the Stars Wars stuff' in the movie. I was like 'Wow! Luke Skywalker!'," Noah says.

ABOUT ALL THAT "SHY ONE" BUSINESS . . .

His "2Gether" alter ego may be considered bashful, however, Noah is anything but. Just ask Carson Daly. "When we were on TRL, Carson said 'Here's Noah and he plays the shy one, but he's the furthest thing from that.' My mom is very outgoing, and I'm like her," says Noah, who has two brothers and two sisters (he's the fourth child). "She's one of those people who's very outgoing and will strike up a conversation with anybody. And that's the way I am."

ONE MORE THING YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT MOM . . .

Noah confides that someone calling herself his mom has recently been corresponding with some of his fans in the Yahoo! clubs that have been set up for him. And though some Web citizens have been skeptical, he's giving us the real scoop: "They seem to love when she posts, but she also gets a lot of backlash too, like a lot of girls going on there and saying she's lying. So I want to clear that up: it IS really my mom!"
